Primary tabs

Sleman, (3/7) – Education Practice (PK) students from Yogyakarta State University collaborated with SMP Negeri 4 Sleman to hold an Environmental Awareness Campaign on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. This activity aims to raise awareness among school members and the surrounding community about maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability. The program is also in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
In addition, this program is also related to SDG 13: Climate Action. This campaign was motivated by a shared awareness of the need to protect the environment through reforestation, waste management, and ecosystem preservation. These efforts are expected to help reduce the impact of global warming while fostering environmentally friendly behavior among students and the surrounding community.
The activity took place in the school environment, with a route around the village and the roads surrounding the school. During the activity, students and teachers distributed plant seeds to institutions and residents, conveyed slogans about the importance of protecting the environment, and collected trash along the route. Education Practice (PK) students from Yogyakarta State University accompanied the students and set a real example of the importance of maintaining cleanliness.
“Adiwiyata is not just about trash, but about caring for the environment, so we hope that this activity will not stop here and can continue,” said Pratiwi Budi Setyaningrum, S.Pd., a teacher at SMP Negeri 4 Sleman. This statement aligns with the objectives of the environmental awareness campaign, which aims to foster positive habits among students in preserving the environment while nurturing their role as agents of green change in society.
This environmental awareness campaign is a tangible manifestation of the commitment of SMP Negeri 4 Sleman and PK students from Yogyakarta State University to support the Adiwiyata program while strengthening the role of schools in achieving the SDGs. The collaboration with PK students from Yogyakarta State University demonstrates the positive synergy between the world of education and the community in building a culture of environmental awareness. Moving forward, both the school and the students hope that similar activities can continue and be expanded, thereby creating a sustainable impact on the school community, the surrounding community, and the environment at large.
